Farmhouses in the Chianti - Agriturismo in the Chianti
"Poderi Val Verde": this privately owned beautiful old estate from the 16th century with its buildings of local quarry stone is situated in the heart of Tuscany - in the famous Chianti Classico region - nearby the wellknown small town of Castellina in Chianti (2 km) - half way between Florence (approx. 35 km) and Siena (approx. 25 km) on the famous panoramic road from San Donato to Siena.
Silver cypresses guard the entrance. Already a few meters off the valley opens with a breathtaking view onto the romantic hamlet "Casanova di Ricavo" (559 m ue. d. M.) and onto the surrounding pine and oak forest as well as broom and juniper covered evergreen macchia slopes of the natural preserve "Oasi del Chianti".
The large guest house complex is divided into 3 apartments (2-4 Pers.) , and/or 2 semiattached houses "Casa Pineta (8-13 pers.) + "Casa Acacia (6-8 pers.) as well as the lovely small villetta "Casa Capannina " (4- 6 pers.) all being ex servant quarters or stables which have been carefully restored with lots of love and expenses. Romantic - the various small interlocking buildings, which cover various floors and still have their old beam ceilings and original cotto floors that have been left untoched as far as possible. Antic local furnitures and the typical warm colours stand for the particualr flair of these old country homes.

The large community swimming pool (5,5x11 ) with its pavements of natural quarry stone and grass leisure areas is situated on the windprotected sunny slopes slightly below the guesthouse. Pavillions and solitary trees provide shade. The comfortable shallow entry platform (3x3m) offers space and security also for the smallest of our guests.
All buildings are set in an extended wellcared garden park of more then 2 ha- the pride of the German owner and her staff. Cascades of flowers, rose bushes, citrus fruits as well as the surrounding meadows with many rare types of orchids and wild herbs create the unforgettable image of a lost paradise.
Animated is this small paradise by various cats, 2 freeroaming wellbehaved dogs (1 male, 1 lively female), a pictoresque small herd of cameroon sheep, chicken, geese, ducks, pigeons and more. Stunning the variaty of birds and butterflies as well as fireflies. And with a bit of patience one may also see wild boars, deer and roe deer, foxes, badgers and porcupines as well as the rare Tuscan eagle that breeds in our valley.
The housing complex is surrounded by grass, gravel - as well as terracotta paved walks and stairs which join the different levels with their romantic porches and apartments. Several natural quarry stone terraces with solitary trees like cypresses, acacia, pine and oak trees are leading to the small creek where the real wild nature begins.
